You can call me Shayne.
Yes, I really do live in Florida.
NO, I don't like it here.
I am not stick thin.
I have lots of flaws.
I am still young.
I'm not a fan of speedy relationships and commitment.
I'm kind of shy at first.
And generally don't talk that much.
I have seven piercings and two ink.
I have cried at a sunset before.
Sometimes I kiss my stereo before I go to sleep,
other times I make faces at my computer screen.
I like writing on other peoples body parts,
....and screaming instead of talking.
I listen to MUSIC, and I enjoy it.
I normally get along with everyone.
The color purple makes me happy ,
The words "forever" and "always" push me away.
I live in an ocean of illusionary friendships.
You know the kind; I know you do.
The kind when you're happy to see or hear from a person and the feeling is reciprocated,
but you know that you scarcely ever cross their mind.
The kind when you have love for that person, but you don't love them.
The kind when you have to be doing something or going somewhere when you're with them, because just being with each other isn't nearly good enough.
The kind when you ask them if they want to do something and the first thing that comes out of their mouths is "Who else is going?".
The kind when the phrase "I miss you so much" is so often used, but rarely ever meant.
This is the life I lead, full of vapid and meaningless relationships.
It is full of smiling faces and dancing feet.
It is full of long empty car rides home, one driver with no passengers- but rest assured always the driver.
It is a collage of new accessories and thrift ridden youngsters.
It is the unspoken, unrecognized, but ever present competition for who can find the newest song with the freshest beat,
who can say that they discovered the most obscure artist at least 6 months before they can be found on MTV snippets between shows,
or who can claim an oldy but goody in their strife to be classically original.
Reading is trendy, and so is an extensive vocabulary- even when used out of context.
Offbeat is the new beat.
Fedoras, flannels, long gold chains, straight-top sunglasses, Nike high-top dunks, anything with an assemblance of an 80's undertone, and high-waisted everythings are the now.
This mindlessness however is overlooked, because after all we're all "artists" aren't we?
Need not limit yourself to one art form...
Model? Actress? DJ? Musician? Photographer? writer? Philosopher? Dancer?
Any of these, if not a combination are acceptable.
Hell, who said that art had to be inspiring?
Alas here I am no better than any other.
I for one am ready for a change.
Here I beg of you... SHOW ME SOMETHING I HAVEN'T SEEN,
something to inspire me, something to give me a reason.
