By reading this, you have indicated that you think I may be someone you might like to know more about. That may or may not end up being true, but I can guarantee you will have no doubts as to whether or not you like me. I've never met someone who found a middle ground. I'm the type of person you either love or hate. Honestly, either is fine with me.
I have a very few close friends, because my trust is hard to earn, and I find it hard to enjoy the company of most people. I have been told many times that I am both the most cynical and idealistic person that someone has ever met. That would be quite fitting considering all the world needs is a few more paradoxes. I'm a person of extremes. I can find the humor in The O'Reilly Factor and Spongebob. In fact, until I started trying to relate my interests to those of others, I never realized what a strange combination the two were.
Because of these things, I find it hard to feel like I am truly part of any group, and I have never been able to live up to any label the world decides to give me. The few friends I have are the same way, which is probably why our idea of fun is so quirky. A perfect day for us would consist of going to a Pride festival, a shopping spree at a bookstore and a toy store, a late night concert, and a visit to the Rocky Horror Picture Show. When we spend time together, there are no plans, and we tend to make our own fun. Whether we are roaming around town with nothing to do and no real purpose in being there, or sitting at home playing Sims, chances are we will laugh the entire time.
Oh, and yes, we are the annoying little teenagers that laugh all the way through a horror movie in the theater. You know, the ones you throw popcorn at and shush the whole time.
Even though most people would find my life terribly drab, I enjoy it most of the time, and I'm happy to say that the simple things (like truffles) really are the best.
On a serious note, I've always been an overachiever. Whether I am in class or at work, I've got to feel like I am good at what I'm doing. I have very low self esteem most of the time, but I am proud of my ability to learn everything (except sports) that I've attempted thus far in life. Even though I feel negatively about a lot of things, you'll usually find that it's expressed through humor. I'd hate myself more if I ever became emo.
I've got so much ambition it's hard to hone in on one thing. Although I am a procrastinator, I work a lot better under pressure, and the end result is usually something great. When I think about what I'd like to do in the future my mind fills with a million things at once. I love Egyptology, and I'd love that as a career, but it is so hard to earn a living that I fear I'll have to resort to the runner-up career choice so I can maintain Egyptology as a hobby. If that is the case, I will most likely end up becoming a High School teacher. Kids need someone who is willing to make class interesting, and even more, really teach them something of value.
When I go to social events, they are almost always political. Rallies and protests are something I live for, because I do believe that with enough people fighting things can change for the better. And yes, I even believe in the power of the individual. If all the "greats" of the past had thought that no one could ever make a difference, nothing would have ever changed. It's for this reason I fight for what I believe in. There have to be people who are willing to become the great ones of the future, too.
One of the only things I hate (aside from rap music) is someone who chooses to be stupid, and are proud to say that they have not and do not wish to learn anything about anything. There is a difference between ignorance and stupidity (we won't get into that) and it's stupidity that I hate.
If you've read this far you're probably drooling on your keyboard about to fall asleep. If, however, you want to talk me about.. well.. just about anything, feel free to message. I always reply if I am at the computer, but there are the occasional times I leave things running on accident while I am out running errands or working. In that case, you'll probably get a message apologizing when I return home, lol.
Who knows, maybe there are other living oxymorons on this site. If so, perhaps they'll find me.
